Claim 1- Charter schools have not been a good plan to create equality in Rhode Island. -Middle schools bishop and Nathaniel green both outscored charter schools in parcc both having 12% higher ELL students. public middle schools in providence have preformed better then the charter schools who have their own lesson plans and different ways of teaching. even though the non public middle schools have a higher percentage of ELL students they still preform better on standardize testing.
Claim 2- students should be mixed economically just like they were mixed racially by the courts.
-Low income students performed better when they attended affluent elementary schools, instead of the ones with high poverty rates. if you mix students who go to predominantly poor schools they preform better when they attend schools that have more money.
Claim 3- everyone benefits when rich and poor kids are mixed together.
-Busing caused many problems and caused people to riot in Boston. Many people did not like the idea of racial integration but many years after it was no longer a problem. This can be used as an example of integration in school systems and why there should be Economic integration Rhode Island

A.When the government gets involved, bad things happen.
"State gives Boston extra money to build new schools, but it didn"t work out, it started a riot.
"1971, the new Lee Elementary School opens with predominantly black student body.
"Everybody can receive the same amount of education.

B.Parents should be allowed to make decisions about where to send their kids.
"Black parents file a lawsuit against the Boston School Committee
"Courts are powerless to combat prejustice

question 2-why cant kids make their own choices on the school they want to attend ?
question 3-what type of problems did the city of Boston face when busing was implemented in the 60's ?

question 1- the charter schools are not a good plan for equality , charter schools single out students that they want in their schools. The students with the money go to charter schools leaving the poor students with having to attend public schools. Also the percentage ELL of Students are much higher in public schools than charter schools.
question 2- the students should be mixed because it helps the students preform better. The low income students preform better when they were around other students with money because the students with money receive a better education.
question 3-the students who were mixed benefited , they were able to get a better education and go to the schools with who privileged students.

1. Yeah, sure it was the busing was bad before, but it seems like we"re on the same page here, because the busing did improve afterwards.

2. It"s the parents, their parents want to make sure they go to a good school.

2. White and black kids were both riding on their own buses going to their schools. When the kids got to school they started riots, throwing things at the buses, then 30% of kids didn"t want to go to school anymore.

Claim 1 - no you're wrong when the government gets involved good things happen not bad because the busing did improve afterwards and it helped many students go to the better schools but also receive a better education.
Claim 2- you do not have enough evidence because most of the times parents want their son/ daughter to go to the school near their neighborhood or community. The parents don't always want them to attend the better school.

Claim 1- No, that's false because most Charter Schools receive high test scores, your only example is these 2 middle schools you should've given me more examples. Don't give Charter Schools a bad reputation.

Claim 2- Okay, i agree with this one a little, maybe some could be mixed, but you really think half of the students or majority would want to be mixed in the same school? And about the kids performing better cause they're mixed doesn't sound right.

Claim 3- I'm not sure about that, because some races don't like other races, that could be a distraction in these schools you never know what could happen.
