I say it's time for Scotland to be independent from England because they have the means to be a fully capable country by themselves.

I look forward to a good, civilised argument.

I beg to differ that Scotland does have the tools to be their own country. They have economic and political stability and they are expected to begin to pay off their debt as soon as they split from the UK. Also, the founding of a country is not based solely on religion; the thoughts and wants of the public, the need for self rule, and life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are some of the main thoughts of independence, not religion. For example, when America declared independence from England, it wasn't because of religion. It was because we were tired of the English not including us in their politics and the heavy taxes on the North. When India declared independence from England, it was not because of religion! It was due to racism and the unfair caste system set up in India. (http://www.bbc.co.uk...) In fact, there are only two countries out of the two hundred odd countries that were ever based on religion: Israel and Pakistan.

No country needs to be founded based on religion; it simply needs the want for independence and a well thought out political, economic, and social system.

Reasons for voting decision: Instead of arguing or making a rebuttal in round 2, Con simply said "whoa is that Velma" (Conduct Pro). Con failed to use proper punctuation and capitalization in all rounds (Spelling and grammar Pro). Con did not make any proper arguments (arguments Pro). Neither side used sources (sources Tied).
