The topic of this debate is if the Confederate Flag should be ban in the United States. I will be taking the position of Con/Against as I feel it is unconstitutional to put a ban on any flag and violates the freedom of speech. I personally am not a supporter of the Confederate Flag but that does not mean the folks that are passionate about it should not be able to express their selves.
Yes, i do think that the Confederate flag should be banned, and i'll tell you why. In my opinion, as a born- and-raised southerner, the Confederate flag is a ghastly reminder of the fateful events that happened i the Civil War. It can also be taken as an insult to people of color, especially blacks, that it was a time that they were controlled by their fellow human. This flag is also a unfortunate symbol of bigotry in the south, considering some members of the Ku-Klux-Klan have displayed the flag with pride, (not saying that all southerners feel this way). To conclude, although their are elements that the flag symbolizes pride of where you come from, it is too much a reminder of racism, bigotry, and the rebellious southern states going against America.
