We should not have aquariums since it is imprisoning helpless animals that should have a choice. Humans were put on this Earth to take care of animals, not imprison them to where they can't run around in the wild. Also, guess what? We are a species of animal. Our species is human. Choose the right side and vote against aquariums.

Yes, there should be aquariums.
1) Those Animals do get fed properly and is taken care of.
(Maybe even better than normal sea animals)
2) It is safer to be in an aquarium.
As a fish in the aquarium, you do not get eaten or fished out of your home.
3) Why were aquariums made in the first place? To let us see the animals.
5) Medical care, these animals have medical care that other fishes don't have.
6) Researchers use these animals to find new breakthroughs. This will help them help even more animals.
7) We are a species of animal...... True so are they. But as I said they are treated even better than
an average fish.

Pfft.....yeah they are soooo taken care of better in aquariums. Ok let me get my list going. It's gonna be long just FYI

1) When you go to an aquarium and you start to look and stare at the fish, you are actually pressuring and scaring them. Kids are told not to tap at fish tanks at aquariums or anywhere, when even when the child looks at the fish it is torturing them.
2) Science has proven that when an animal is taken out of it"s regular ecosystem will then affect the food chain. Also, to add on to this, yes, the fish put into the aquariums will not be hunted, they will be greatly multiplied which can increase the problem of overpopulation.
3) Millions of people every year go to aquariums at Monterey, Atlanta, or maybe Chicago. Honestly when people can say that happily and say that they got inspiration to do something amazing is really great for that person, but a messed up life for the animal. Every day they are put out for display for human enjoyment. This has been a problem that many people for years have been trying to make disappear. Society has gotten to the point where if you go to to any moderately large city you will find an aquarium, zoo, or some kind of facility where animals are not enjoying their lives as they should be.
4) SeaWorld in San Diego, CA has been saying that they are saving precious dolphins from events that would be fatal without them and helping all kinds of sea animals by putting them in their aquarium. That isn"t the whole truth. There has been an animal captivity problem for a very long time. SeaWorld is definitely not helping that. Dolphins every year that are so called "saved" are getting captivated and taught tricks to entertain the audience for very pricey shows. Dolphins are intelligent creatures and as any other animal don"t deserve to be forced to entertain people when they love to play and don"t like to be caught and put into smaller tanks than they are used to. Dolphins shouldn"t be in cramped, and isolated tanks at the Georgia Aquarium.
5) Dolphins are like humans, they can recognize their own given names. Just as we do they watch and learn from each other and have distinct personalities that think about the future and can actually be identified as smarter than some humans. So exactly why do animals have to go through such mental and physical torture when humans don"t have to. Animals were put onto this planet for humans to help and care for them, not for selfish people to use animals and sea creatures for their own money needs. Aquariums are not helping animals at all, they are
6) Marine animals are taught to do so many tricks at aquariums. One orca at SeaWorld in San Diego was tired of it. He was torn away from his family at only two years old. His name was Tilikum. The orca killed one of the trainers, and everyone around tried to stop it, but Tilikum wouldn"t listen and why was that. It"s because he has been stressed and frustrated from humans behavior towards him, so much that he responds to it with aggression. He was tired of his captivity, and he had shown it many times before because he wasn"t the cause of just one death. He was the cause of three. Incidents where humans die or are seriously injured is almost non-existent in nature. Aquariums gone would help demolish it.
7) Actually, this one is a question. I want to know exactly why people like you don't think that animals have a voice. You say there are put in aquariums so humans can see them. I say humans have the advantage over animals since we can talk. We can't understand what animals say, so then we take them over. As I said earlier, dolphins and whales are almost exactly like us. There is a lot of differences, but the one that seperates us the most from them is that they speak in beautiful songs, might I say, and squeeks and whistles. Dolphins and whales are intelegent and can sometimes be identified as smarter than humans. If they had hands and feet like us then would you really take advantage of them. If all sea creatures could speak english, spanish or even french. Tell me truthfully. Would you put them in a age to be admired as they are right now?

First off I do not understand why this is relevant, but to answer your question. Yes, I have been to an aquarium. It was honestly inspirational. It inspired me to get all of those creature out of there. They are intelligent and beautiful creatures. Humans are too, but are we kept in cages. On display for lions or zebras to come to see. No because we are soooo "SPECIAL." I am honestly ashamed to be human when my own kind is doing torturous things to beautiful , helpless creatures. They speak exactly like we do, they all need to eat just like we do, so why exactly are they counted as not as important, as something that we can awe over, as something that does not matter as much as us. They are tested on, held captive, and even killed for human amusement. I say as long as they are getting held captive. Why exactly aren't we? And I don't mean because one of use commited a crime. I mean for no reason at all. Say you could breath water. Would you want to be cooped up in a little cage that will most liekly be crowded with a lot of other people that can breath water too? And be stared at in awe because you're at an aquarium. If I were a fish, I would find a way to rebel against people like you. The people who think that caging up helpless animals is alright. That as long as humans are being amused everything that animals are getting is just fricken fine.

Ok just to make sure you have been to one right? If so have you've gone to the zoo? Are they the same (zoos and aquariums)?
And think what is the reason people trap the fish (or beautiful animal in your case). Where the people trying to purposely harm them?
1) "when even when the child looks at the fish it is torturing them." What would you say to a shark eating a surfer? Sometimes aquariums keep animals/fish to prevent injury.
2) Overpopulation, that is a good thing because fish population is declining (http://wwf.panda.org...). That will help slower or even stop the decrease of population of fish
3)"Millions of people every year go to aquariums at Monterey, Atlanta, or maybe Chicago. They should be glad at least there not being hunted. There is even a committee where their goal is to protect the animals: http://www.caza.ca...
4) It is true they are saved. They are the lucky ones, I ask you would you rather die or do some tricks and later get freed.
5) "Dolphins are like humans, they can recognize their own given names. You are missing some stuff please comment on what the missing part is. Also, you are just saying the same as your 1st round: These animals are smart and don't deserve to be in an aquarium.
6) " Marine animals are taught to do so many tricks at aquariums. One orca at SeaWorld in San Diego was tired of it. He has torn away from his family at only two years old. His name was Tilikum. You are saying these animals can be dangerous, that is why we have aquariums. They are sometimes used to train the animals not to be violent.
Round 3- We are special. Did we not invent lights, boats, guns.............
"Say you could breathe water"
1) They can't they breathe oxygen (http://www.nefsc.noaa.gov...)
2) No one cares about that- Even if they did breathe water we breathe oxygen.
3) If the fish tried to rebel........BANG BANG!!

I await your argument.
