Handsomedude

Pro

Yes 10 year olds should walk and stay home alone they are not children. They are tweens. They are mature kids. YES we will not wait until they are 17!
Zarroette

Con

I accept.

Seeing that my opponent is Pro, he/she has the burden of proof.
Debate Round No. 1

Pro

Handsomedude forfeited this round.
Zarroette

Con

My opponent's comments thus far are easily refuted.

I.

Depending on definitions, 10 year olds are indeed children, as is the case with Dictionary.com's definition [1]:

"a person 14 years and under."

Besides, my opponent gives no impact to this claim. So what if they weren't children? Why does this matter? Why does this mean they should be able to walk and stay home alone?

II.

Secondly, the claim that are mature is a bare assertion, which is a logical fallacy. We have no reason to believe Pro's claim as Pro has failed to provide any evidence whatsoever [2].

Conclusion

For the above reasons, neither of my opponent's claims should convince you.

@ClashnBoom

I admit that I do this for free wins. I also use it for practise in resolution understanding and initial argument construction.

@Zarroette Why do you keep accepting these kinds of debates when you know your opponents will not be able to properly counter your argumentsA311; It's like your just getting free wins.

Reasons for voting decision: FF. Con's arguments were not refuted and Pro made no arguments whatsoever. Pro's compound structuring of their initial sentence was not separated by a punctuation mark and was, thus, grammatically incorrect. Con used the only sources.
