Abortion is a huge controversy between people. I believe that abortion is a choice of the women that are pregnant. If you are financially not able to take care of a child, to the point that you can't take care of yourself, then sure. If you were raped, then sure. I would much rather have them give the child up for adoption, but if we made abortion illegal, we would run out of area for the children up for adoption. I prefer women not get an abortion, but again, it's entirely their choice. Talk to me.

I am happy to accept this debate. Let's begin and best of luck to you :)

In order to address this debate, we must understand that there are religious reasons as to why it is wrong to abort a child as well as logical reasons. However, since I don't know your religious affiliation, I will leave religion out of this debate to avoid any comments that may be perceived as disrespectful.

First, I would have to argue that all countries in the world, have certain laws that defend an individual who takes a life through self-defense, or execution, or war, etc. When these acts are committed they all deal with the law of that specific country. Self defense is justified because an individual is clearly breaking the law through vandalism, or robbery, or assault, etc, therefore, we have the right to use force to protect ourselves, our families and our property. War is defined as the legal declaration of hostilities towards another nation, due to political or religious reasons. Court-ordered executions or battlefield executions, takes the life of an individual who has committed a crime or crimes worthy of execution. In each case, the "bad guys" are dealt with for the crimes they have committed in the name of their belief or otherwise.

But, what wrong has a speechless baby done that it deserves execution, similar to that of criminals here in the world outside of the womb? The baby has done no wrong, yet it is executed. There is no logic in executing someone that has broken no law, and such actions are therefore deemed as murder. What crime has been committed? What law have they broken in their brief existence? The answer is none and yet, they are killed.

Think of ISIS. The Kurdish and the Christians and the Muslims were guilty of being Kurdish, Christian and Muslim and were, according to ISIS, worthy of death. Even Nazi Germany deemed Jews to be worthy of death because they were simply Jews. Similarly, the babies in the womb are guilty of being babies and are, according to the parent(s), worthy of death. Just because they were Kurdish, they were killed. Just because they were Christians, they were killed. Just because they were Muslims, they were killed. Just because they were Jews, they were killed. And just because they were babies, they were killed. If we examine both situations, what laws did they break? What made them unworthy of life? The answer is simple: it depends on the choice of those in power who carry the knife, who redefine the meaning of life, and who decide which individual is worthy of life and who is not.

It is only in abortion that someone is executed but hasn't violated the law and has no voice to defend itself if accused of anything. This is fundamentally and logically wrong. Since when has humanity agreed to kill someone who's broken no law? Since when do we kill those whose only "crime" was being brought into existence based on the choice of his or her parents? Food for thought :)

But wait, there's more haha. If we really dive deep into the logic behind "why abortion is wrong" then we can see that science even reinforces the stance against abortion. According to science, one-celled creatures are alive but what grows in the womb of a woman is more a one-celled creature meaning that, regardless if the creature is one celled or not, it's still alive. But the life of a human is the product of the combination of human DNA, so whether it's developed facial features or not, the second the sperm comes into contact with the egg, that combination makes it human. This human that is developing in the womb has no ability to speak but it has developed nerves therefore it feels. So to have an abortion would mean that the baby feels the cold steel knife cutting it up, but has no voice to defend itself against such cruelty.

So abortion is a choice, but so is getting pregnant. However, this touches the subject of children produced as a result of rape. A woman who becomes pregnant because of rape is, without a doubt, the victim of a horrible crime. Although pregnancy because of rape is very uncommon, there is no argument that pregnancy does occur in some cases. The thing is, the sympathy is with the woman who is pregnant because of rape, but this is no excuse to get an abortion. The argument of being "pro-abortion" assumes the stance that the unborn is not fully human however science clearly proves the contrary. So now we must weigh the relieving of the woman's mental suffering via abortion against the right-to-life of an innocent human being. And homicide of another is never justified to relieve one of emotional distress.

In addition to this, when a pregnancy occurs as a result of rape, there are soooo many avenues that a woman can take in order to stabilize and ease her mind. We live in a world where there are state of the art technologies and medical facilities for just such situations and studies have shown that when given proper support, most women who are pregnant because rape gradually change their attitudes about their unborn child from something repulsive such as abortion, to someone who is innocent and uniquely worthwhile.

In conclusion, the term abortion should be absolutely, without a shred of doubt, renamed to "Genocide of the Silent".

your turn :)
