I don't think that archery should be allowed to be taught at school. I think this because some students are immature and could get hurt. They could run in front of somebody shooting and get hit. That would not be good for the school.

Archery is a great sport for kids of all ages. It should be taught because it can give kids an opportunity to try something they have never tried before and they might like it.

But like I said before, some kids are not mature enough and if the kids are small enough then they won't be able to draw the string back and hold it. And if they try to pull the string all the way back, they could lose their aim and shoot at another person and the school could get sued if something bad would happen and this is all because the school allows archery.

There is a reason that safety rules exist. It's so the kids stay safe when they are shooting. There's also a reason that you have to have a LICENSED archer instructor. It's to keep the kids safe and if kids are not mature enough to shoot and be safe, then the its the instructors job to tell that kid to go home and don't come back until they have grown up.

Yeah but the parents would get mad if you told a child that. They would probably think that it is discrimination against the older kids. Even though there is a licensed instructor there they can't control where the aim is going to go. They are not going to stand by the kids and hold their hands while they do everything. Plus, other people are going to be shooting around so the instructor could be hit with an arrow as well. If you hold a child's hand all their life, they are not going to get anywhere in life. That is why I think that they should not allow archery in school!!!

Archery teaches kids discipline. It teaches kids that if they want to do this then they need to grow up and learn to take responsibility for themselves. If they grow up then the kid won't have to have their hand held their entire life.

Con you need to look at the national archery in schools program website. Not only is it one of the safest activities in a PE environment it is a very successful program. All of your questions will be answered there.

It's not good when children get concussions or broken bones playing football either but that doesn't stop that so-called sport from being nearly a religion in some schools.

Reasons for voting decision: While Con did point out some of the hazards of archery, Pro highlighted its benefits and Con's arguments were simply not sufficient to overcome them.
