I believe that the arts should not be a priority at public schools. A degree in this field usually ends up in unemployment. In fact, miscellaneous fine arts has the second highest unemployment rate! It's completely fine for schools to have arts programs, but if they are suffering financially, they should probably make the big cuts in the arts. If you really want to pursue a career in the arts, you should go to a private school, as the majority of kids in public schools will not. The arts are a nice thing for relaxation, but NOT worth prioritizing over more important areas of study.
