If a person shoots at someone's upper body, hits them in the heart and they die, and someone shoots at someone's upper body, hits them in the chest, and they live , why should the person who killed someone get a bigger consequence than the one who injured? They both had the same intent, it was just by chance that the bullet didn't hit the surviving person's chest. Surely they should both get the same punishment?
There is some truth to the argument that if someone shoots someone in the chest and they survive there should be the same consequence as killing them, however they didn't KILL them they just hurt him. If you beat someone at school during your childhood would you get sent to jail for life, no! Trust me when I was a Kid I got beat A LOT! See What I Mean.
