First, why would school want to ban cell phones? It is said to be common sense that phones should not be tolerted at school. If we consider it though, the phone is the child's persnsonal property, and not the schools. There is no reason phones shoul be banned at any cost. They might make the student sway from his studies, but that's honestly the studetns falt! If he grows up to become an uneducated and sad man, you just blame it on his phone. IN my opion I believe the student should have conrtol over his/her device.

For one thing my opponent said kids should have control of their phone. Some kids probably can't control themselves. Most likely some kids check their phone when ever they get the chance. A phone could be a big distraction and distract kids from a very important project or test. Also there is a possibility that their using their phone to cheat. At school your already with a bunch of kids so you don't need to go on your phone and call and text or go on facebook to socialize. So it's most likely for entertainment or some game. School is for learning not for phones.

Like my opponent said, the phone might sway the student from their studies but that's their fault. Even if it's their fault, they should have some help controlling themselves. A phone can be very addicting and there needs to be some boundaries put down. Even if cell phones are only allowed in free periods kids will obviously break the rules. And use it to play games and cheat on tests or look up stuff they shouldn't be looking up.

In New Jersey students in school may not use phones other wise the phone will be confiscated and they will get punished. So why shouldn't the rest of the U.S do that too? Student's often forget to silent their cell phones, so a class could be disrupted and distract all the kids. Even if set to silent, cell phones can still cause distraction, since text messaging has become a high-tech method of passing notes in school.

Teachers should probably take care that the child doesn't distract themselves, coz, you know, they're teachers.

Reasons for voting decision: FF gives conduct to Pro. Pro also gets arguments as Con's many forfeits left Pro's arguments completely unrefuted. Both were readable and no sources were used.
