They deserve to have the same right to a phone as teens. Without a phone, how could they contact their parents if something bad happened to them?

I accept the debate
I will explain why kids under 13 dont deserve a phone.

Privacy is a issue. Only 61% of kids use the privacy settings on social media. While 52% dont turn off there gps location and settings. The most scary part is that 14% of kids post there home address in social media. On a poll it shows that 70% kids admit to hiding there online activities. If you sum up it shows that less then half the parents are aware what there child is doing.

Not for calling mostly for internet.
1/4 kids use there phone to get into internet. That ruins the purpose for phones as a way to communicate to the parents. The 1/4 that use there phones as internet the other 75% use there tablets.

Regret for posteing on social media.
Study been don the digital deception study in 2013 shows that nearly half of all teens say that they regret posting some things in social media. Half the kids on social media 10-17 admit to posting risky pictures and comments in social media.

Sexting is a also a issue when giveing phone. We can not forget about sexting. A study has shown in usc found that 20% of teens say they received a sext while 5% say they had sent one.The july issue of the journal of pediratics says that 1300 middle school students ranging from 10-15 has report being sexually active. We can not ignore what we are giveing our phones gives a chance to sext.

OK understood, however that's 1/4, most children would not do this, plus, the adult can always put restrictions on the phone by going to the settings app.

The main problem with kids is that they dont have the fiscal responsibility for a phone. There have been numerous people who didnt get phones until they come to age. There ways to contact your parents even if you dont have a phone. There are kids with phones and they just dont care about the phones.Teenagers shown physically and mentally that they responsibly enough for a phone.

The real question is how many adults even bother to put restrictions on a child's phone. We also got to talk about cyber bullying.4% of teens polled says that they have a argument over someone in the internet and resulted in a physical fight. We have also take in account that 43% of teens aeing 13-17 have been cyber-bullied. That is a large number and that is only for teens.

Phone use has been link to anxiety and low GPA score. A study has shown by the college of education health and human services has linked phone use to low anxiety and Gpa score. The higher the cell phone use by the student, the lower the grades and higher anxiety.
