I have been on this site for about 30 minutes and I have read a lot of dumb and misguided answers and topics. I saw one that said "Who is better? Lebron or Kobe?" There is no yes or no to that question. I have also seen someone say that Lebron makes the average salary of a teacher every time he makes a shot. That is like saying he makes atleast 40 million dollars every year, which he makes about half of that. I think that debate.org should read and reread every answer and debate topic. There is too many people who do not have enough information to actually debate about the topic they're talking about.

Con

Everyone has the freedom of speech. To say that someone can't post a debate that is opinionated seems wrong because that violates the first and fourteenth ammendment. Everyone can say whatever they want, even if it isn't wrong. This is a website for debating, not for informing people, and we should treat it as such.

My opponent says, 'I have read a lot of dumb and misguided answers and topics. I saw one that said "Who is better? Lebron or Kobe?"'

He then says, "There is no yes or no to that question." But isn't that why we debate. Abortion can be both wrong and right. If everyone debated on what could be answered as yes or no or as a definitive answer, then there would be no point of debating. That would be simply the recollection of facts. That is not fun at all. Having Debate.org review every answer we post removes the fun of debating and violates our first ammendment of freedom of speech and the fourteenth ammendment as they segregate people with credible answers from people who do not have credible answers.

And to say that people don't have enough information to actually debate is an assertion that not only can be credible, but can also be negated. The internet is a vast resource of information. And because this is a website, you need the internet to get on this website.

Vote Con and for the prosperity of the freedom of speech.

I didn't mean that stupid people cannot have an opinion, but for them to be posted, it's just not the right thing to do. It makes the person, the site, and even the topic look stupid. I think they should just check what everyone is writing. I actually made a sarcastic response just to see if they would post it. I checked later and they did. That's what I think is wrong about this site is that anyone can have a say, which is awesome in many ways, but wrong in others.

1st Amendment rights are there for a reason, but that doesn't mean they have to publish it. If I went to a newspaper and told them what I feel, most likely they won't publish it and that is not violating any rights of mine or the newspaper.

Reasons for voting decision: Although I totally disagree with Pro, his arguments make more sense than Con's. Pro gave some practical reasons for why debate.org should regulate debates. It had nothing to do with freedom of speech. Con has a serious misunderstanding of what the first amendment protects. The first amendment does not obligate anybody (including debate.org) to provide a platform for speech. Con misunderstood Pro's statement about there not being a right or wrong answer. We don't debate because there is no right or wrong answer; rather, we debate because there IS a right or wrong answer, and we hope to find out which it is.

Reasons for voting decision: Odd resolution Pro selected. As Con said, it's a debate site. A one round debate is virtually unwinnable because there is no rebuttal.
