Do to the large amount of money almost 41 billion dollars are spent on the war on drugs while if regulated and sold we can generate 3.1 billion $ in profit and create many jobs nationwide along the way.

We live in a society that is filled with drugs. We see them in school, work, and maybe even at home but just because it's a hard problem to resolve doesn't mean that we should throw in the towel. Many people say that drugs will never stop and since it's not 100% controllable that we should just legalize it all together, but here is the argument I present to you.

Just like drugs on the news we see countless stories about murder and violence. We all know that we can never fully solve this problem either, so according to the logic of your side we should just legalize that too. Basically we should legalize EVERY issue in this world that we don't have a full grip on.

No we shouldn't, the day we legalize drugs is the day we throw chaos into society and in this country. If people know that it's okay to temper and harm themselves imagine the overall effect that would arise. The government's job is to insure safety and loyalty to our citizens and by legalizing all drugs we would be doing the exact opposite.

Yes, I agree with the not giving up but even with all the restrictions and arrests there are still trillions of dollars
Worth of drug just on the street alone killing people .Most users die from the lack of knowledge of the drugs purity and or strength, says Jeffery Miron an economics professor out of Yale. There is also one country in the world that has full legalization of all drugs and on record they have less crime and usage itself. With weekly dosages of the drug by a certified doctor who monitors usage of the drug and purity instead of just getting It with lethal chemicals. For example cocaine and heroin are cut and mixed with any white or even yellow powders that are just random other drugs. As for prescription pills they kill millions of people a year and are extremely easy to obtain, even over the counter. Alcohol and cigarettes being largely used across nations they slowely or the fact of alcoholism. As prohibition in the 1930s shows restrictions on a product only make It more dangerous and to some appealing.

You say in your last argument that trillions of dollars worth of drugs on the street are killing people. Here's the thing though, if we were to legalize drugs they would still have that same effect. Drugs are linked to numerous crimes including theft, murder, and rape. In fact if we make ALL drugs illegal, wouldn't that include ruffies "date-rape drugs" as well than? Your side of the argument is saying that in doctor's care, drugs are fine when really no amount of drug whatsoever is truly safe. In fact some people DIE or go into shock after their first time using narcotics.

You also state that one problem with drugs is the lack of knowledge in society. So if we do legalize them, I guess we will also be teaching more people about them. Can you imagine a world where instead of kids learning through the DARE program they would be learning about how it is ok to mess with their body or to deal with lifes problems through drugs. That's certainly a world I hope to never live in.

Another point you make is that doctors can help by diagnosing people with a specific amount of said drug each week. Let me tell the world something, any truly good doctor would never encourage patients to take heroine or cocaine unless they were trying to sell it under the table. Plus doctors in the US are very busy dealing with obesity, cancer, etc. They can't afford to make drug check ups.

My point from all of this is that drugs will not benefit us really at the end of the day. If drugs are legalize they send a message to our people which will hurt them in the long run. Drugs ruin people's lives. Ask any teacher who teaches high school about all the kids who had potential to do great things but were turned to drugs and became ghosts of themselves.
