The education industry is by far one of the most competitive industries In a country as diverse as India, where more than 70% of population are in the rural sector, is it justified to price school education?

Here are some reasons the government should pay for college
1 It is stealing-It is unfair to take money from people who earned it and give it to people that didn't, when ever a politican promises free anything, it isn't free, it's just being paid for by people who don't want to pay for it. They say it's so others can have a chance, but why should someone's money be given to someone who was capable of earning scholarship money and or earning it.
2-No one owes anyone a college education- kids have had 18 years of being provided for, they owe society, society doesn't owe them anything
3-Free things are always worse- all explanation needed
4-4 out of 5 students don't graduate community college why would free college be different
5- Everyone can afford community college already
6-Most new jobs will only require a high school diploma in 2022
7- Were suffocating in government debt, we need to cut spending, not spend more

Your comment may be valid for specific instances. What you're saying is from a position of strength. However, consider a family that is barely making ends meet. As a race, should we then take a call that a child born in such a family does not deserve a good education just because he/ she cannot afford to pay?

I think we need to make a distinction of keeping certain things out of commerce. Education should be one of them, just like law and order or say the fire services. We don't have to pay for either. It is state controlled. As far as the future of education goes, I think our belief and reliance on degrees is gradually going to diminish since the jobs are not going to remain the same. Higher education, as we know of it today, might just be largely on demand with the MooC kind of platform proliferating. However, the basic primary education would continue to act as baselining of knowledge and hence it is upto the state to ensure that education resources are equitable.
