I think that torture should be banned.

I accept, this debate is in the form of a question. All I have to do to win is "No, torture should not be banned" and I have answered the question thus winning the debate. If this is not the case my opponent intended, then by the definition of torture,

"something that causes mental or physical suffering : a very painful or unpleasant experience"

Since pain tolerance differs, then saying something unpleasant, or a parent taking a child' laptop can be "torture". Since this two examples are legal and moral, torture should not be banned.
