Fighting in hockey should be banned it takes time away from the actual game itself; it can cause serious injury and start massive rivalries between NHL teams. There have been many fights in the NHL that has led to serious injury Like the fight between colton ore and George parros they were fighting and parros fell with his hands caught in coltons jersey and couldn't get his hands free he fell face first on the ice. He had to be taken off the ice in a stretcher and was hospitalized for injurys. I wonder sometimes if there could be a death in a hockey fight Don Sanderson was fighting forward Corey Fulton during the third period and his helmet came off during the confrontation. Near the end of the tussle, both players fell and Sanderson's unprotected head hit the ice. Sanderson was out cold on the ice for about 30 seconds, before briefly regaining consciousness. He eventually fell into a coma and was on life support. Do we really want to be teaching our children of the younger generations that grown men should fight and seriously cause bodily harm to themselves over a game.

Fighting in hockey is a pivotal part of the sport, the fights add to the hatred between teams, which essentially is good because it will give games more character. injuries do occur, and when they do it is always in a way expected but fights should not be blamed for injuries alone. Taking fighting from hockey would be like taking peanut butter from a pb&j it just does not work. fighting is needed and is a great part of the game, fans love them, players love them and everyone enjoys them. The Orr/parros incident was a freak accident which could have occurred to anyone, the glove Parros slipped on was there and the trip Orr experienced was accidental. It happens fighting is needed however.

Fighting in hockey in unnecessary there will still be rivalries between teams sure some spectators love the fights but is it worth seeing your own players bloodied, bruised and concussed for your enjoyment. I can assume some players like the thrill of a fight and understand that but there is just no real need. I understand that with rivalries come big disputes between players they get angry and want to fight but why risk the injury in a fight one slip up could be your last. If it was a pivotal part of the game then the game wouldn't be able to be played with out it but I am pretty sure there have been hockey games with no fights and do we really want to show to our children this behavior. Just because someone made you mad Doesn't mean you have the right to beat the snot out of them. You say that the two incidents were just accidents but thats just it accidents are accidents you don't know when there could be one. on the ice in your car or on the kitchen counter and there is no way to predict them so why take the chance and loose a player.

It is unfortunate however sports these days have turned into this giant entertainment, money making machine. The fights add entertainment to games that fans love and the owners of the arenas, teams, and so on just want to make more money. Some of them may care about keeping the athletes safe and spending more focus on the game, however they would loose fans/viewers and therefore loose money. I don"t like that however that's just the way it is. Fighting will always be allowed.
