The word different is a very broad term. Its definition is:
not the same as another or each other; unlike in nature, form, or quality.

Gay and straight people have a different nature. They each have a disposition to be attracted to a certain sex. I'm not going to go into anything about which is better, but the purpose of this debate is to prove they are different. They are unlike in nature to the heterosexual community. So they are, in a word, different. But does this difference warrant them being treated differently? Well, in some ways, yes.

For example, I might discuss with a straight friend if they thought ariana grande was hot. I would not do this with a gay friend. Although it is a small difference, it gives proof of a difference. It is a difference of treatment between a gay person and a straight person.

A bigger instance of this is marriage. I will not delve into the moral aspect of gay marriage, but I would like to point out the differences between what a gay and a straight marriage would entail. Whether or not gay people should be allowed to marry, the fundamental form of marriage would be different for a homosexual couple. Marriage has always been dictated from the fact of procreation. A homosexual couple cannot procreate on their own, and all sexual acts under the marriage could not be made towards the purpose of children [1] and therefore would not hold the same definition of marriage as a heterosexual couple. It would be no good not to acknowledge this difference, and a homosexual marriage should be seen in a different light than a heterosexual marriage. Again, I want to reiterate, not a better or worse light, just a different one.

So, homosexual persons, while valuable and important members of the community, cannot be treated exactly the same as heterosexual persons without ignoring their homosexuality.

Well, there's nothing here to refute. I stand by my previous arguments, that there are definitely specific instances that gay people must be treated in a different way than straight people. Since the BOP is all on my opponent, it can be concluded that if these instances are true, then my opponent cannot win. Vote con everybody! Thanks a lot!
