We should tighten gun laws. More people would be safer with tighter gun regulations. If laws are not controlled, more crimes would be committed. I agree that not all crimes are committed using firearms, but they certainly play a role in it. Besides, a responsible person wouldn"t be affected if gun laws were tightened. Some of the people who are anti-gun control say that guns are needed to defend themselves from tyrannical governments, but what proof do we have that our government is tyrannical? From the facts that we have stated so far, we can all see why we should have more gun control in the United States.

The United States has seriously liberal gun control laws, and has the highest rate of gun ownership in the world. Although Honduras is the country with the world's highest gun homicide rate with around 68 gun murders per 100,000 people, America sees far more gun violence than countries in Europe, Canada, India, and Australia, which is perhaps how it gets its bloody reputation among comparatively peaceful nations.

"By "tighten" I mean making gun regulations stricter to prevent dangerous people from obtaining and using firearms."

Please explain how this is even possible.

The ONLY thing stricter gun laws do is make it harder for NON DANGEROUS people to obtain and carry a weapon.

I hope you realize the VAST majority of guns used by criminals are obtained in violation of EXISTING law. Absolutely NO 'new' law will have an effect on them. Laws only affect the law abiding.

This is VERY simple. So simple that I just don't understand why the 'gun control' crowd doesn't get it.

Criminals don't CARE about laws. Only law abiding citizens do.

Hence LAWS ONLY APPLY to law abiding citizens.

The more 'gun control' legislation you adopt, the LESS safe LAW ABIDING citizens are and the more DANGEROUS criminals become.

People over react to individual situations in nonsensical ways.

When Columbine happened, the outcry for 'tougher gun laws' was huge. Um...those kids were breaking NUMEROUS EXISTING LAWS. How would MORE laws have stopped them? Wouldn't. They are CRIMINALS, by definition they don't CARE about your law. They didn't obtain those weapons legally so what difference does a law mean?

You know what law allowed all the carnage in that school that day? The law PREVENTING guns on school campus. That's right. The law that didn't allow responsible persons to carry a gun is THE reason it went as far as it did. Schools are a soft target because the CRIMINAL knows they will be the only one armed. If a trained teacher or administrator had been allowed to legally carry a weapon that day, things might have turned out much differently. But we respond by demanding MORE restrictive gun laws? That makes no sense to any rational thinking person.
