It would be helpful to know what the crime committed was deserving of this highest punishment, death. Then again, death is the highest punishment for say, multiple ruthless rapes and serial murders infvolving hacking up body parts and killing mothers with their babies, like a Charles Manson? What crime is worse than being kept alive captive for life in isolation for even the worst offender? 9 life sentences or however many life sentences can be given is the crime in itself worthy of committing to an individual as the worst possible punishment. Death would be freedom from the worst crime ever committed. Being kept alive without any personal freedom to move about would be worse than Capital Punishment. Some are so sick in the head they would welcome being gassed or having the right to die by euthanasia. What is a consideration - is that if they are able to get out of prison, and/or, murder another prisoner. Especially if that other prisoner deserved life imprisonment as well. The most severe punishment is being incarcerated, wanting to live, and not knowing if Capital Punishment will pass in the province you live in while being on "death row" I suppose. Then again, clerical errors could let a prisoner out early that had committed even a murder: http://news.yahoo.com... Or they could escape. If you think Death Penalty is the worst thing for a Juvenile, remember that they are young, and life imprisonment is all the worse if you have to live it for upwards of 65 to 75 years. Any Juvenile that committed a highest offense ought to be sent more so to a mental institution in my opinion, then do serious time. Depending on the level of the crime, be set free after years and numerous clinical psychologist's assessments. Even after being set free they should have to live their life with an implanted gps tracking chip - and during their entire life, be on probation.
