I just don't think that nascar should be considered a sport if all you have to do is drive in one big oval for hours at a time.


Sport is defined as:
"an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, such as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc."[1]

Right so I hope I don't have to use sources when I say:

Racers physically exert themselves; they need to make swift and controlled movements to keep their car on track and not crash and die in a fireball of flaming metal and rubber.

In doing this, they have to be skilled.

In racing, they are being competitive.

Boom, you've got yourself a sport.
