I don't think that online colleges should be seen as a viable source of education. These days with anything and everything on the Internet, who are we to trust and believe that those online classes are factual or even real.

It is easy to check whether an online college has accreditation, because the Secretary of Education is legally required to publish a list of nationally accredited colleges. So the young adults working at full time jobs, soldiers on the frontier, single parents hustling to care for kids and others interested in online college degrees do not have a tough time discerning the bad from the good. To add to this confidence, many prestigious colleges we know and love such as the University of Washington offer online courses for those interested. Furthermore, the belief that online colleges are not a legitimate form of higher education denies these honest Americans the right to pursue their passions on their own time and in their own home.

Exactly, accredited or not is the real question. A college, like the University of Washington, offers entire degrees taught online. These online courses are taught by the same instructors and using the same texts that the on-campus course have/use. Online classes are the wave of the future, however like anything else, there are a lot of false or bad ones. To lump all online degrees into this caetegory I think is just plain ignorant.

for something to be valid as far as a degree goes, most colleges (physical and online ones) become accredited. This is how you can tell if its "real" or not! i won't take the debate though because i just recently debated this :P
