I believe that the police should be able to use reasonable force in perceived violent circumstances in order to maintain a civil functioning society.

Police exist for our security, not to threaten and maim us into being obedient.

but if you open your eyes, you will realize that they are now being viewed as the threat. they now have the scare tactic effect when they approach people sort of like a justified gang that's incapable of being tried according to their actions. I feel like you didn't disagree with me at all.

The police are supposed to be viewed as a threat. But where, and to whom? For the non-guilty, the police holds an image of righteousness and order. For wrongdoers, they are a symbol of fear. Not because they use violence as a means of "maintaining civility", but because they have the law behind them. They are defenders of the law, but they should not take it into their own hands.
