Personally, I am under the belief that prisoners should not be allowed the vote, however in the UK there is ongoing debate about this topic-prisoners gave up this right when they committed an offence, and if we continue giving prisoners so many opportunities there will be nothing to prevent them reoffending!

I welcome any opponents on this

I thank my opponent for instigating this debate. I would like her to make a few points before I start on my round, so that I can see that she will be responsive. I will then make my case.

Ok-the main reason I believe that prisoners should not get the vote is simply because why should they? Why give additional human rights to people who evidently violated someone Else's to end up there in the first place? When they get out of jail yes-but they're in jail to be punished for committing a crime and all of this human rights rubbish is nonsense

Prisoners are also humans beings. Just because some of their rights are taken from them does not mean that a society should keep on repressing them as much as possible. A lot of prisoners have entered jail due to necessities. Some do it because they do not have money to provide their families, and they try to get money through criminal activities. If a horrible economic situation has been caused by certain politicians and their political parties, which has made many people lean on criminality in order to survive, why should we not let prisoners give their votes so that things in the society can improve, which would help people not make the same decisions as the prisoners felt they had to?

Next, Con says that "the main reason I believe that prisoners should not get the vote is simply because why should they?" This is not an argument. It does not make sense. I await further arguments from Con.

The logic to why prisoners should not be allowed to vote is simple…
If you break the Law… You cannot make the law!
