I think students should not be paid for having good grades for many reasons.
1) What would they spend all of their money for? The only thing teenagers and children would spend them for are video games and toys.( Also things like books, too.)
2) It could be used as an encouraging factor but that could be lead to greediness and selfishness.
3) If money were to be in the hands of a child, they could buy inappropriate products and do inappropriate acts.

I think students should be paid for getting good grades because it is a great incentive. It is just like how parents pay their children to do chores. The kids want the money so they do the chores.
To address the argument of kids buying bad things, you seem to think all kids are inherently bad. Many kids will buy candy or a book (which is actually an awesome thing to use money on by the way) or toys (entertainment) at first but when they see that new beautiful bike in the store and compare it to their old, rickety one, they will realize that they need to save their money so they can buy it. Letting children learn how to use and deal with money is a great life lesson and I think that they will increase their grades so that they can save up for that sweet new bike (this is just a story, obviously no all kids are gonna buy a bike haha)
If paying people leads to selfishness then we should not pay people to do their jobs, right? People are selfish but if you teach them how to handle money at a young age they are likely to be responsible as they grow older.

Children should absolutely NOT be awarded for getting good grades. Maybe they could be when they're young and don't understand anything, but they shouldn't expect to get money for every time they get a good grade. The real prize should be a good education so that they can have a good future and help others in the society, and kids should realize that. If they need to be bribed in order to do a good job in school, I wouldn't say they're a good student at all. I have all 100s except one 104 (extra credit), and I don't get any allowance.

bad idea. Makes them overdependent. If they do not get rewarded for something, they will throw a fit (temper tantrum). Bad idea.

Reasons for voting decision: Pro's argumentation style was more effective. and Amphia's argument regarding children buying things like books being a net positive was also well founded. comparing chore money and growing fiscal responsibility was a strong argument in favor of pro.

Reasons for voting decision: Cons argument is basically children cannot be trusted with money. Pro argues that paying children money for grades is similar to being paid for chores and is a chance for children to learn value of money. Pro argument is more effective as it refuted Cons arguments and listed benefits of paying students for good grades.
