Pro

Students should have to wear school uniforms because it helps make the school look more professional. By having everyone dressed in the same appropriate attire, it would also allow the school to earn a well thought reputation. It makes everyone look well mannered and polished. Students should have to wear school uniforms because it unites them as one in the school.
Also by wearing uniforms, it would allow students to not worry so much about their appearance and arrive to school on time. Instead of spending all morning trying to find an outfit to wear, they put on their school uniform and get to school, ready to learn.

Con

Students should not be forced to wear school uniforms if they do not want to wear them. The students should be able to wear what they want to be their own person. By forcing the students to wear school uniforms, the school staff is limiting the the students from expressing themselves. They should are able to express who they are by being able to wear what they want. Students have a sense of self expression and if you make them wear the uniforms you are limiting their self expression. School is suppose to be a place where students are able to be themselves and by making them wear school uniforms you are telling them that they can not be themselves.

Pro

Allowing students to wear what they want does not allow them to express themselves, but causes bullying between the students. Not every person has the same fashion sense, so students start to criticize when one does not have the same style as them. This is bullying and bullying leads to insecurity. Also, when some students cannot afford to purchase name brand clothes, they get teased by the ones who can. There is a certain standard on what to wear in school and if the students do not meet the standard, they are identified as strange or different. Students should have to wear school uniforms because it creates a safe corresponding fashion in the school.

Con

Even with the school uniforms students would still be bullied. The uniforms do not stop the bullying. The bullies would still find something else to bully someone with. Also if uniforms were supposed to be worn students personalize the uniforms to show who has money and who does not. So even if students can not afford name brand clothes people will notice if the student has money or not with uniforms.

Pro

Students should have to wear school uniforms because it would help them have pride for their school. Uniforms can create a feeling of oneness and belonging. By everyone wearing uniforms, students will feel as they fit into the school. Just as sport athletes wear uniforms to be identified as a team, students can wear uniforms to be unified as one with the school and their fellow classmates.

Con

Students do need school uniforms to help them support their school. The students can dress up or have a lot of school spirit. When the school has homecoming week or a rally, the students can show the pride there. The school uniforms should not be their only source of school pride. With the uniforms making the students feel as one, the students just have to act as one huge family. The students do not need the uniforms to show them that they are one. They should show themselves by acting and being one.

2 points to Pro (Conduct, S&G), 2 points to Con (Sources). Reasons for voting decision: It is hard to understand the con point of view with such arguments.

[*Reason for removal*] (1) The voter doesn"t explain conduct or sources. (2) S&G is insufficiently explained. While difficulty understanding an argument can be sufficient reason to award this point, the voter must explain why it was difficult to understand.

Yes uniforms unite but instead of forcing them to wear it or not to wear it, why not just make it a student's choice to whether or not they want to wear school uniforms? It's easier that way.

3 points to Con (Con). Reasons for voting decision: I think that pro made better arguments. Pro's points where stronger. Pro won the debate.

[*Reason for removal*] (1) The voter doesn"t explain conduct. (2) Arguments are insufficiently explained. The voter is required to specifically assess points made by both sides in this debate. The voter generalizes about who had better arguments without ever assessing points made by either side.

Uniforms aren't comfortable, agreed but we need them so everyone can look equal. Yes, they're cheap and tight but you'd be wearing something smart at work too! No kids bullying you for wearing "low quality clothes" or "cheap shoes" or going "Ey, my shoes are "100 and how much is yours?"

Yeah, uniforms suck! But its good practice for when you are required to wear a uniform at a job after school... plus rich kids can't tease more poor kids for there cheaper attire. However the uniform does suck to wear !
