I came across this website upon doing my research for this topc: Should kids leave school for lunch?
I was set in stone with cons, and here is a more pronounced one. Students who go off campus is expected to be back at a certain timem, correct? But to leave and arrive in 25 minuts would nearly always ensure they would be late and/or have to take their lunch to their classes. Not to mention how selective students may be. They might have a taste for a whataburger or wendy's across town!
There would have to be a length in time for them to get back safely and on time. Which would lenthen school days considerably and hold up appointment or plans teachers have made afterschool.
Finally, if we cannot trust the students to be orderly in hallways, keep their phones tucked away in class, or not loose their things that the lost and found hold until the end of the year, then how are we to trust them not to do or go where it is not permitted when they leave for lunch? It may even encourage some students not to come back when lunch is over. Skipping classes and holding the school responsible for any carelessness the student may present thereof.

Students should be able to leave school for lunch, every grade level students enjoy more freedom and respect. Allowing students to go out for lunch teaches the student to be punctual with thier time in making right choices. In most cases ireponsible students will be punished for this, which will allow them to build off of this. Not allowing students to go out for lunch somewhere will not prepare them the future ahead. In most well paying jobs they offer breaks for a lunch in which most of the employees can go out for some quick takeout near where his/her work is. It's important to gain this experience before you actually go into a job. There are many more reasons as to why students should leave school for lunch, not only for freedom or responsibility. But the experience is what matters.

It is a valid point to say that students would be rushed or late if they were allowed to leave campus for lunch. The allotted time is very short, usually about 30 minutes. Although, the ability to leave campus gives students the ability to have a sense of freedom and responsibility, which is what they're supposed to be learning for their future anyways. Usually, since there are districts, the students' homes are close enough to drive to and get back in time. This allows them to get fresher, healthier foods than they would get in a cafeteria. Yes, they could pack a lunch, but most schools do not have microwaves that they could heat up uncooked food in, which they could easily do home. The ability to go off campus could also save the students' parent's money since they would not have to pay for lunch from the cafeteria. Also, some students simply do not eat lunch because they do not like what is being served that day, and then they come home hungry. Being able to go off campus would easily fix this problem since they could go anywhere they wanted within reasonable distance.
