This topic is widely debated among everyone in the music scene(s) all over. Most sub-genres usually end with the suffix '-core' often times used as an insult to real genres such as metal, or rock, or even pop. I believe that statements such as, "(band/group/artist name) isn't real (genre)!" should be either shunned or exiled to effectively remove both stereotypes and division among these many artists and groups that are criticized for the music they make.

There are many ways that sub genres can be different from the main genre. For example Viking metal is different then pirate metal or rock metal and so on. If you just have categories like rock classical rap and so on. You end up with really vague categories. 21 pilots isn't rap or hip hop or modern. They just created a new category to fit. Without these sub catagories you remove many peoples categories pn how they play music.

It is to explain the hate that sub-genres of music receive hate, as well as figuring out whether there is a way to abolish the hate and criticism.
