Why? Look at Starfall and ABCMouse! Such great educational actiivities on the computer. Not only that but it could also be considered an encouragement for children young and old. Don't forget common sense, with researching from the iPad to the joy of education games. What if someone goes to YouTube to watch videos or go to Xbox's website to see their cousin's status? Well, the School Education system could block website or even categories for the education of young children and even the safety of the children, like cyberbullying. Again, this could be a great encouragement for children toddlers and teens!

If you agree to debate, make sure that you disagree the fact that technology should be in school.

Technology"! Doesn"t that word sound familiar?

Indeed it does... Have you ever thought of being taught in schools with the use of gizmos & gadgets &touch screens & the list goes on. But do you know, technology in the classroom takes away valuable time. It can also be overused and it TURNS Educational experiences into games for students.

We all know that in today's classroom, teachers are pressed to make every minute count, and If the teacher and students are not experienced with technology in the classroom, valuable time is often wasted on technical troubles.
In addition, the teacher faces the difficulty of having a class full of students who are all at different skill levels. In many schools, most students will have a computer and Internet access, but schools that are located in impoverished areas may have a large portion of their student body with little to no computer experience.

Technology also has the following negative effects :-

1) In some classrooms technology is overused. This can lead to a variety of problems. Many students learn best by physically and mentally interacting with what they are studying. If most of the teaching is done using a computer, these students' needs are not being met.

2) One problem that many classroom teachers face is that students often use computers primarily for games. Because of this, many students associate computers and technology with game playing, and if this issue is not addressed, some students may get distracted and off task quickly.

Technology does help with making fundamental things quicker such as: white boards instead of chalkboards and organizing grades; but technology has a greater negative effect.

From a negative aspect technology has become a scapegoat for many students. Technology has made it so that virtually any student can be a good student without any effort at all. In our day and age, the key to success within the classroom has become being able to search Google or download the right apps. Now, with the right apps a C student can easily become an A student without becoming any smarter.

The idea of getting away with doing just enough is now adopted by the majority of our youth and is being condoned by equipping students with more and more technology. Schools are equipping students with technology in hopes off it aiding them to learn quicker and more efficiently; but it has been the total opposite with technology becoming the victim of humans natural instinct to find a short cut.

Almost immediately after receiving their new school-issued iPads this fall, students in Indiana and in California (and probably elsewhere) managed to bypass the security on the devices, "hacking" them for "non-schoolwork" purposes: listening to music, checking Facebook, surfing the web.

Is this the correct use?

(I would like to question the pro)
Is this the reason you are supporting the use of Technology in schools?

All technology in schools isn't bad. Think of computers and iPads. They are even used in colleges. Also using technology in schools helps us to use discipline with our technology in the outside world. Along with real life situations, in the workplace, stock market, social media, and life in general!

We know for a fact that technology is becoming more of a daily routine these days and it's just going to be getting used more and more and it's important that children are used to and know how to use technology but it is always good to do real school work with pen and paper

Technology is already used in a wide variety schools anyway. Games is a serious problem that does get in the way of a child's education, but faculty are able to block the websites. Teachers need to monitor the history of the students so that we can be wise to the websites that need to be blocked. Also, not be pessimistic or anything but if students would like to impair their educational experience by playing games then let them. They will begin to see the effects of their actions later and then will be able to take it seriously.

Reasons for voting decision: Alas, a good debate wasted! While I agreed and still do agree with Pro on this topic; it doesn't provide any points. I would implore Con to debate me on this! Conduct to Con due to a forfeit. Spelling and grammar were fine. Arguments to Con as Pro didn't post any. No sources were given, therefore, sources are tied.
