I think people should have the right to choose - People have the right to choose suicide if they so wish. A terminally ill patient may not want to go on living any longer and yet be physically unable to end their life of their own accord. It is unjust that people can be imprisoned for helping loved ones die in dignity and I think it ludicrous that the law prevents people from helping others if this is what the patient wants.

Die: (of a person, animal, or plant) stop living. http://oxforddictionaries.com...

Choose: pick out (someone or something) as being the best or most appropriate of two or more alternatives. http://oxforddictionaries.com...

Right: a moral or legal entitlement to have or do something. http://oxforddictionaries.com...

Should: used to indicate obligation, duty, or correctness, typically when criticizing someone’s actions. http://oxforddictionaries.com...

You have the full burden of proof.

"People have the right to choose suicide if they so wish." It is now up to you to prove that they should.

"A terminally ill patient may not want to go on living any longer and yet be physically unable to end their life of their own accord." But you must prove that they should have the right to choose to end their life in the first place. If there is no obligation to allow them to choose to die, the fact that they can't kill themselves is thus irrelevant.

"It is unjust that people can be imprisoned for helping loved ones die in dignity." You must now prove that the law of murder is unjust, since this is what they are imprisoned for.

" I think it ludicrous that the law prevents people from helping others if this is what the patient wants." You are entitled to this baseless opinion but since it is based on no facts whatsoever I'm afraid it doesn't warrant a justified argument.

With LatentDebater out of the picture, this is an easy win for brwilding - but only if he comes back and resumes the debate.

Do you mean they should be allowed to just stab themselves or the doctors give them poisikn and die? If you specify I might accept.

I think anyone should be able to choose when they die.
