The 1st amendment should be bypassed in order to take down the KKK and even the Aryan nation. I intend to prove this using my history and sources
Grape

Con

I await my opponent's arguments.

I maintain that there is no point in taking down the KKK or "even the Aryan nation." The imperative implied by the word should is inappropriate.

Well dont both groups violate other races civil rights? So why shouldnt we take them down? The 1st amendment allows free speech yet they burn crosses and wave swastikas. We need to take action before a KKK member ends up in the White house. Looking forward to rebuttal

I will refute my opponent's arguments on a point-by-point basis.

"Well dont both groups violate other races civil rights?"

Yes but so what? Is there a reason why this is necessarily good or bad? I assert that morals do not exist and on that basis there is no moral imperative to take action as a result of this.

"So why shouldnt we take them down?"

The question here is "why should we take them down?" The resolution is not simply assumed. In fact, I consider it to be based on a very weak assumption, namely that the KKK is bad or that "bad" even exists as a relevant term.

"The 1st amendment allows free speech yet they burn crosses and wave swastikas."

Yes, that is the point of free speech. As Noam Chomsky said, "If we don't believe in freedom of expression for those we despise, we don't believe in it at all." The point of free speech isn't to allow people to say whatever they want if they agree with you, otherwise it's not free speech at all.

"We need to take action before a KKK member ends up in the White house."

I consider this an unlikely outcome.

Ok i will assure my argument. The fact that both groups do violate others civil rights is true, along with other things. But let us digress. There have been instances where the Klan actually supported presidential candidates through endorsements. They supported Calvin Coolidge, who was called Kandidate Kal Koolidge. Im eager for rebuttal

Again.

"Ok i will assure my argument."

Not sure what this means.

"The fact that both groups do violate others civil rights is true, along with other things."

Yes I affirmed this.

"But let us digress. There have been instances where the Klan actually supported presidential candidates through endorsements. They supported Calvin Coolidge, who was called Kandidate Kal Koolidge."

That doesn't mean they had a shot at putting one of their own in the White House. Just because they support a candidate doesn't mean he supports them.

" Im eager for rebuttal"

So was I. I questioned whether your arguments were important and you didn't address that concern at all.

we need a "take part of a member's quote out of context" forum game. The "The KKK are a testament to what makes america great..." would be a good one for that. lol

Reasons for voting decision: Everybody has a right to free speech. Unless the KKK is burning down houses and killing people, the constitution prevents the government from jumping into action. At best, they can be charged on counts of harassment, but that's about it.
