It should definitely be abolished. The current system makes it much harder for third parties to make their case, as well as earn voters to increase the size of the party. With more than just two parties in the system, people would have more open minds about who to vote for and what political stances they would take. It's a very good idea and almost no drawbacks whatsoever.
