Should the death penalty be allowed or exist to begin with? In my opinion, I believe it should NOT exist, and should be abolished immediately. Having the worldview that I have, I think the death penalty is murder, and people who say it isn't, and that it is justice for the victims and the hurt, I think are only justifying their own evils. No matter how you look at it, when you have someone's life in your hands, and you intentionally let them die on your own accord, because you wanted them to, it is murder, and it is revenge, which in turn leads to nothing good. If you're convicting a person for doing something you so despise, something you're so against, something we look down upon and causes us and other people so much hurt, murder, then why would you feed that and commit the same actions as the accused? I'm not saying the accused doesn't deserve some sort of punishment, but I don't think killing another poor soul helps any. Do you think the one you lost would really want that? Is it something you can truly live with? You're taking a person's life, and it is not a decision so easily made.

Apparently Round 1 isn't acceptance... Anyways, I will give three arguments that the Death Penalty is justified: the Moral Argument, the Reoccurring Offense, and the Cost Argument argument.

I. The Moral Argument: This is the argument most often used as a logical reason that the Death Penalty is justified. It is a fairly simple one. If we had captured Adolf Hitler, we would have definitely given him the Death Penalty. Ted Bundy deserved it. The Sandy Hook shooter deserved it. Anyone who kills anyone elseon purpose deserves to die. They took life, therefore their life should be taken. Every time we let a murderer off the hook, we let evil loose into the world again. Evil doesn't need to be re-released into the world; evil needs to die.

II. The Re-occuring Offense Argument: Consider a study done by the Bureau of Justice Statistics: of those that committed homicide, served time, and were released, 41% were arrested on charges of homicide less than two years later, and 11% were found guilty! (BJS, Langan & Levin, 2002). In 2010, according to CDC, there were 16,259 murders. Take 11% of that and... oh my word... at least 1,788.48 murders were caused by re-offenders! Talk about taking someone else's life! 1,788.48 deaths could have been stopped if the Death Penalty was always enforced. Or life in prison, but we will get to that in contention...

III. The Cost Argument: According to the Justice For All organization (JFA), the cost for life without parole is $1.2 million. The cost for the Death Penalty? : Between $100,000 and $500,000 depending on the state. Why should tax payers pay for the lives of murderers? By the way... do you know how many people are currently in prison for life? More than 140,610. That is a total of $168,782,000,000. 168 billion 782 million dollars. That is more than 2.75 times the Department of Education budget. Despicable.

How is killing a man more expensive than keeping them in a heated, comfortable, jail cell, feeding them 3 meals a day, along with free medication, paying guards to watch such men, supplying them with equipment for recreation, how is that more expensive? Please explain.

God is definitely for the Death Penalty. He used it on liars, thieves, adulterers, and many, many others.

God also commended the death penalty to be used on blasphemers...

Personally I am against the death penalty. There are a lot of cases in the world when so-called killer was slandered. i think life inprisonment is better thab death penalty. At least they are alive. We are not God, and we do not have rights to judge someone. The God gives us life, and only the God can take it away.

i am against the death sentence but i am sorry to say that con did a bad job at giving a solid argument and just rambled on about easily argued moral views

1- innocent people have been murdered for the sake of killing a few sinners. as god told abraham i would rather let 1000 sinners die then kill one innocent man
2- You need to link your resource and provide a more legitimate explanation.
3- studies show the oppisite, they show that killing a man is actually more expensive then life in jail

Death Penalty Is About As Justified As It Gets. If You did something bad enough to get the death penalty you deserve it. Like the guy who crushed his a few month year old babies skull with a cinder block, he deserved it. And if someone gets a life sentence whats the point? Just kill them and we don't have to pay for them to live in solitude until they die. It saves money and time that shouldn't be wasted on criminals
