Well i have some reason that the drinking age should be lowered to 18 because we are considered an adult by the age of 18 but that is still considered underage drinking, but for the people that drink do it unsafely and can end up getting hurt or even die because they do not have a safe environment to drink.
Studies show that the human brain doesn't finish developing until the mid to late twenties*. We all know that underage drinking will occur no matter what the age limit is, but a drinking age of 21 allows young adults to adjust to life of great responsibility after turning 18, without introducing them to an inebriated that could potentially cause brain damage** and temporarily limited motor skills*** (assuming that teen drivers are three times more likley to be involved in a fatal crash than those 20 and older****).
Yes that is very true but then again people that break the law shouldnt have to and should beable to drink in safer places and it should be the parents choice if they will allow their children to drink alcohol like signing a permisson slip
Also, not everyone drinks. In the your argument, by proxy, everyone can't wait to start drinking so they do it at a young age. In fact, since 1980, the amount of underage drinking has dropped down*.
I think a drinking age of 21 works because it also allows for clubs and bars to manage a more socially responsible clientele. If I owned a bar or nightclub, the last thing I would want is for it to be filled with drunk teens right out of high school. An older drinking age means a higher chance that your customers are a more mature crowd.
Yes that is true I wouldn't like to see some 15 yr old coming into a bar trying to buy a drink...because back then kids could buy liquor or beer at the age of 16 and even buy cigarettes when they were like 8 yrs old telling the cashier that its for their parents
