Why is the World Cup even in Qatar in the first place? Blistering 40degreeC heat in the summer? However, this does not justify holding it in the winter... This would disrupt an abundance of games throughout the world's domestic leagues, including 100 from the BPL (November and December) and many from Europe's top leagues. I think that they should award it to another country ASAP, just because Qatar's climate is too extreme for the biggest tournament in the world. After all, summer is something we look forward to, and the World Cup is no exception - is it right to break tradition, or is it only just a date and nothing to worry about? Your opinions?
The World Cup should be held in winter in an indoor arena that has heat because the players don't stop the games just for a little snow. We need the games on in the winter so their is something on in the winter months!
Qatar's winter temperature is over 20 degrees so snow isnt a problem... and in the winter there are still many domestic games on in the many leagues around the world that will be affected by holding the world cup in winter (as I said, 100 Premier League games).
Its not just one arena... there are many tournament stadiums around the country needed (12) which will cost money to put heating in. Qatar will afford it, but why not give it to a country already prepared for a summer tournament e.g. England/Spain/France/100 other countries
