"Big Brother is watching you."
-George Orwell 1984
In 1949 George Orwell predicted that there would be someone always watching. Now in 2014 his prediction came true. But instead of Big brother we have the NSA. Not only are they always watching they are violating the 1st and 4th amendments.

(Dear my opponent just start with you opening statement for round 1)

We are always trying to make the world a safer place to live in. One of the ways we can achieve this goal is to remove the world of terrorists and bandits. To do this we must gather information to figure out who is responsible for harming our society. Marc A. Thiessen talks about this in one of his articles. He says, "If the critics don"t think the NSA should be collecting this information, perhaps they would like to explain just how they would have us stop new terrorist attacks"

He goes on to say that there are three main ways that we can stop terrorists.

The first way that he explains is through interrogating captured terrorists trying to make them splurge their plans. Thanks to Obama, that way is no longer a real option. The second way he states is through infiltration. This has become incredibly harder since there has been a recent discovery of agents and now it is difficult to find them let alone trying to get one of our members to go undercover and join them. His final way he shows is last, but not least, signal intelligence " monitoring phone calls, Internet messages, etc. Now that people are trying to get rid of the NSA, our government is starting to run out of feasible ways to stop terrorists from getting into our country and harming our citizens. How else are we supposed to stop terrorists?

The 1st Amendment talks about Freedom of Speech. This has nothing to do with this case because the NSA isn"t telling us whether or not we can say what we want. The 4th Amendment says no unreasonable searches and seizures. The NSA does have a reason which is to stop terrorists.

When the NSA monitors our devices, they are not trying to figure out who your new boyfriend is or find out what your favorite TV show is. It is to try to protect you from the harmful people in the world that are planning to destroy your home and your future. Do you not want these people to be stopped?
