The U.S and it's allies occupied Afghanistan after the 9/11 attacks. It was a response to the terrorist threat of Al-Queda,who was controlling the Taliban. I believe that the lives cost were worth it, people died for a good reason.

I wait for my opponent to give his reasons why the attack was not justified.

The war in Afghanistan was a large overreaction, and it was something that could have easily been avoided. Let's do the math here. The attacks on 9/11 killed an estimated 2,977 civilians. This is tragic and truly undeserved by anyone, however, the war in Afghanistan has cost 20,000+ civilian lives, close to 2,000 American troops and 3,000 total coalition troops. We've created even more children who will never see a member of their family again. Let's not forget about the psychological damage and PTSD these wars are causing to the 130,000 troops sent over there.

Also the attackers had no proven connections to Afghanistan, so why attack there? The FBI in fact believed the attack may have been thought out by individuals in the United Arab Emirates.

Then, we made more enemies with the Taliban in Afghanistan, the leaders of which did not condone Al Qaeda's attacks on 9/11 at all. By the way, Al Qaeda did not "control" the Taliban. I won't face palm. The leaders of Afghanistan, in fact even offered to hand Bin Laden over if the U.S. could show evidence linking Bin Laden to the attacks. According to PBS, ". . . Zaeef repeated the Taliban's position, that the United States disclose evidence linking bin Laden to the terror attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. Zaeef said that until that request is met the Taliban would have nothing further to say regarding bin Laden." This should be a slam dunk since the government claimed to have evidence of this. Not only would we save over a decade of violent war and tens of thousands of lives, but also $500 billion. Instead of using money to kill our soldiers and innocent civilians maybe some of it could have been used to help save the 18,000 people starving to death every day. http://i.imgur.com...

Hey everyone. So, I'm pretty disappointed because my opponent forfeited a lot of rounds and shut down his account and all. Anyways, vote for con because I refuted his argument and he never even made an effort at refuting mine :(. Resolution negated.

Also, I found a really good recipe for a sandwich that I just have to share! It's actually a little pricey as far as sandwiches go and all, but it's really really good if you have some extra scratch lying around and/or wanna impress your spouse, family or girlfriend/boyfriend. Here's the link: http://www.guardian.co.uk.... Anyhow, everyone have an excellent week and message me if you want to talk or anything haha. I'm new here and don't have many friends on ddo so send me a friend invite if you want : ).

Yes technically it wasn't a war, it was a conflict, but that is still considered an invasion.

I dont know why people are against that invasion, it saved american lives and crumbled the taliban. Al Queida was then stuck in pakistan and yemen totally restricted.
