Debate Round No. 1

I'd like to thank kaitlyn.nicole for accepting this debate.

Now, I would think that the United States Armed Forces should NOT be larger. They would still increase the size of the military if needed, however, it would be hard to expand the military, if they do not cut down the wages per soldier, and have the budget remain the same.

Even though there are some conflicts that the Armed Forces are facing, such as the War in Afghanistan, and the Military intervention against ISIL, the armed forces should not increase their size unless it is highly required. But as of sometime during late 2014, 1,350 troops were being sent to the intervention against ISIL, which will at sometime result in personnel loss. [1][2]

The active personnel of the Armed Forces as of now is about 1,361,755 [3], with reserves with a total of 850,880 personnel [4], combined together would make a total of about 2,212,635 personnel in the military as of now, a rather apt size that should remain the same, or perhaps decrease slightly.

This is all I will say for this round.

Well, currently if the US would want to expand their military more quickly they simply need to cut down the wages per solider and maintain the same budget they have

I believe the military should either remain the size it is or shrink slightly because if you grow the military it will be at the expense of other things like heath and education technology and industry even though we need a larger military more than ever i believe our military should invest in advance combat systems and elite special forces rather a larger army/navy.
