Pro

I think that Uk should aid Japan in this disaster, but if anyone likes to debate about it go ahead.
Thaddeus

Con

I thank pro for this debate.
The resolution is "should the UK aid Japan in this disaster"
Pro's argument for why the UK should give aid is that he thinks we should. He no doubt is aware of the great weight his opinion has in this online community. However, this is an appeal to authority, and pro has failed to give any reasoning behind his belief.

Arguments against lending aid

1. Japan's example
Currently the manner in which Japan dealing with the tragedy is an example to the rest of the world. Theirstoic manner in which they have recieved this disaster is commendable. Furthermore, the cohesive way the Japanese community has reacted also serves as a great example to the world. Instead of riots and violence, they have aided those in trouble with no complaint, despite the great magnitude of their suffering.
To send large amounts of aid could distract the world how it is the Japanese culture which will allow them to survive this disaster.

2. Financial cost to the UK
The UK is currently experiencing negative growth, and has a large budget deficit. The UK cannot afford to aid other additional countries.

I urge the readers to vote Con

Most aid is given in technology, resources, knowledge and experience. If Japan needs 1000 people experienced in searching for bodies in disasters and it only has 800 available, then if we have no current disaster it makes sense to send them over. Same with stockpiles of emergency equipment and machinery. No government talks of writing Japan a cheque to cover the cost of the disaster. It is private banks that will do the majority of the lending. All the UK and other nations need to do is provide on hand help.

Yes everything you say is true but what would you do if your family was taken in tsunami I'm shore you would do everything in tour will to find them.

1) There are so many young children out there that have lost the family's I believe the K should support Japan.

2) I believe that Japan's people are suffering and and I believe we should at least try and help.

An astute observation. I believe this would be an easy win.

Seems kind of stupid to make an argument where all you say is "I think the UK should help Japan," with no option to post anything else.
