It is clear that our current system of FPTP is failing to work, only a third of voters truly have a voice in our government, many are torn between voting for what they believe in or the lesser of two evils, and our government is considering gerrymandering to make sure that they won't be beaten in 2020 despite the majority of the country being against them.

I accept the challenge. 500 character limit. BoP is shared, Pro gives no terms.

Proportional representation:
Areas with more population get more representation than those with lesser population. Their representation is proportional to their population.

I will be arguing that the UK should not use this, look forward to the debate, great topic!

I argue that the UK should not use proportional representation because areas with less population are not able to have a voice in government. The ability to participate in government is a fundamental value of the UK, and devaluing other's ability to do so based on no factor that is a result of their doing is unfair. This makes the areas with larger population's vote "more important" than those of rural areas, which takes away the fairness of voting.
