My intro paragraph
Alcohol is bad for underage drinkers. Teens who start drinking before the age of 15 are 15 times more likely to develop alcohol abuse later in life than those who start at or after the legal age of 21 according to the website dosomething.org. This topic is important because underage drinkers are dying and drinking causes 4,300 deaths and 189,000 visits to the emergency room. It causes physical problems, learning problems, and lasting effects. The drinking age should be higher because it is bad for underaged drinkers.

About 85 percent of the deaths due to cirrhosis are associated with alcohol.

Moderate, regular drinking—up to one drink a day for women, two for men—boosts HDL (good) cholesterol and cuts the risk of death from heart disease by about 25 percent. It might also help prevent type 2 diabetes.

It might prevent a common type of stroke. Moderate drinkers have a lower risk of ischemic strokes, the kind caused by blood clots. That might be because alcohol, like aspirin, helps to thin the blood

It might help women keep weight off. Normal-weight women who drank one to two alcoholic beverages a day had a 30 percent lower risk of becoming overweight over a 13-year period than women who drank no alcohol, according to data from the ongoing Women's Health Study. The strongest result came from red wine

The writer of this argument commits the informal fallacy of missing the point. This fallacy is inductive, uncogent and weak. An uncogent argument is an inductive argument that is weak, has one or more false premises, fails to meet total evidence requirement or any combo of these. His premises lack credibility and ultimately appear to be of falsity, thus making it uncogent. His conclusion is that alcohol is bad for underage drinkers, and the drinking age should be higher because it is bad for underage drinkers. His premises unfortunately miss the point he"s trying to make about his conclusion, making his argument unnecessary.
