America has an extremely high obesity rate. According to the CDC, more than one-third (78.6 million) Americans are obese. Obesity creates medical issues, costing a total of $147 billion. If the government controls our diets, then the obesity rate will decrease. Many other countries, such as Japan, have laws enacted in order to prevent obesity. Even if the government is "too controlling," there would most likely be special days (perhaps once a week) where people can eat whatever they want.
