I am arguing against government be involved in our personal situations such as dieting. My opponent will be arguing for government intervention in personal diet.

II have taken on the challenge proposed by the opposition as the pro or affirmative side for the current issue that is being debated which is "Should the government have control over our diets".
First of all, as the affirmative side, I would like to first define "diet". "Diet" is defined as "a particular selection of food, especially as designed or prescribed to improve a person's physical condition or to prevent or treat a disease". One of the most obvious benefits of having the government control and maintain what foods we eat is that it would eradicate health issues that are currently found in our society due to people begin unable to control their selfish cravings. An example would be the eradication of the horrible disease "diabetes". Over 371 million people worldwide suffer from this horrible disease because of diet issues such as overeating and consuming large quantities of sugar in a short period of time. A new case of diabetes is diagnosed every 30 seconds; more than 1.9 million people are diagnosed each year and sadly, if we continue our eating habits, estimations advocate that by 2030, over 552 million people worldwide will be affected. Another health issue that would be solved is obesity. At the very moment, over 2.1 billion are obese worldwide. Obesity can lead to devastating problems such as Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Coronary Artery Disease, Coronary Vascular Disease, Heart attack, stroke, and even cancer and the most ironic thing is that obesity is preventable. I propose a model in which the government could custom produce different diet routines based on each individuals health, allowing for the system to run more effectively rather than leaving it up to people. A 2012 study advocated that 52% of Americans (that were polled) believed doing their taxes was easier than figuring out how to eat healthy.
It is now the oppositions turn to rebut and state his arguments, allowing us to progress to round 2 of the debate.

You shouldn't make yourself con, make the debate "The government should not have control over our diets" and your position pro. Just suggesting.
