On the 9th of October 2009 Kazakhstan had started following the recommendations of the World Health Organization an risen the legal drinking age from 18 to 21. As well as banning smoking in public areas such as parks, bus stops, etc. But even after doing so the level of drinkers in our country has not declined. On statistical charts it might show that the level of people consuming alcoholic beverages in cafes and bars have decreased, but what about the underage drinkers?
Nowadays there's many underage drinkers including myself who don't usually drink at bars or any other institutions which have a drinking age policy. They usually drink in alleys, homes, or apartments to not have problems with the authorities. So my question here is: Should the legal drinking age in Kazakhstan be lowered back to 18? For even after the change of laws the amount of drinkers has not diminished as the government thought it would.
No, the legal drinking age in Kazakhstan shouldn't be lowered back to 18. There's nothing wrong with the law, but the people who chose to deny that the law exists. Citizens should be able to follow the law given by the government and to know the reason why such law exists. Drinking sure have advantages and disadvantages. Most children doesn't know this since no one ltell them. Drinking may cause alcohol dependence, liver damage and the risk of experiencing various accident from drinking too much. By lowering back legal drinking age back to 18 is the same as killing younger people who doens't know anything bad from drinking because no one tells them. Instead of lowering back the legal age, government should act strict to the citizens about the law they have made, give lessons or give notice to them about drinking as well as smoking; what are the bad effects from doing these things. Government has to be able to keep an eye on them and make sure everyone is following the law. They should give consequences to the ones who break the law. Lowering the legal drinking age into 18 won't make the country better, but by raising the legal drinking age and be strict to the citizens will.
