I wish my opponent in this debate a clean, fair and honest debate.

With the controversy surrounding the topic of marijuana legalization, please note that marijuana is not a harmful drug nor a beneficial one unless used in honest health practices. Though pot is not known to lead to crime or violence, an extended abuse of the drug can lead to an unmotivated and braindead individual in the long run. Weed has all of this controversy around it without any significant pros and cons. Therefore, I would like to open up this debate with a drug various scientists and I believe to have beneficial qualities: magic mushrooms, or the most active ingredient in the drug, psilocybin.

Now of course, the general public should be skeptic to allowing the common use of these kind of drugs into the United States. They cause hallucinogens and can lead to both good and bad experiences. However, when the dosage is right and the user responsibly prepares themselves for the ensuing trip, one under the influence of "shrooms" can experience life-changing epiphanies through a euphoric period of time. Most commonly, the feeling of love and innocent emotions wraps itself around the user's mind, almost bringing them back to the sensational time of childhood. Magic mushrooms allow your subconscious to be released, to give yourself a far better understanding of who you are and what qualities of life you strive to discover.

According to a study conducted by Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, psilocybin may have long lasting medical and spiritual benefits.

"Fourteen months after participating in the study, 94% of those who received the drug said the experiment was one of the top five most meaningful experiences of their lives; 39% said it was the single most meaningful experience. Critically, however, the participants themselves were not the only ones who saw the benefit from the insights they gained: their friends, family member and colleagues also reported that the psilocybin experience had made the participants calmer, happier and kinder."

Though you may find the drug as only for hippies and drug addicts, there are many benefits to the use of this drug and it is hard to judge it and its users without experience the psychedelic experience yourself.

Thank you.

First off, I accept this debate with pKeane.
I shall start off on this note, drugs, they may seem harmless but look at all of the people begging for money on the street corners. As soon as they get their hand on money what do they do? They buy alcohol or tobacco or some form of drug. How did they get there? Well most of the time its drugs or alcohol.(which is a drug) They use these drugs because most of the time they try to get away from every thing, past, present, all of there problems. But all it is doing is making their biggest problem worse. Their addiction. And that is 99% of the time, the result of drug use.

like bath salts, magic mushrooms corrupt the brain in many ways. Therefore, a lot of people you trust before, you can no longer trust them because they may not be thinking right if they have used these magic mushrooms. It will also cause more problems in the long run due to health problems and such which are most likely permanent.

Would that you were not a new user. I would love to debate this topic, but even in a three round debate, it would likely end in fallacy or forfeiture.
