Photo editing applications should not be banned as it does not have a negative impact on the society. Many people use it for professional reasons like advertising while many others use it for social reasons for public appeal. A photo editing app can also be used for amusement like placing a chicken on a political figure's head. The saying "a photo speaks a thousand words" places emphasis on what the photo conveys. In other words the content is very important and if the the photo editing app can improve the content to spread a message then I do not see why there should be a ban on it.

The photo-editing app should definitely be banned as people are getting addicted to alter their personalities and being so called beautiful. According to a study an average girl spends 45 minutes daily clicking selfies and editing them. People alter their complexion to fair and smooth skin??? I mean is it bad to have dark, dusky or wheatish complexion? is it bad to have blemishes? Common we all are humans not barbies. It is being a trend on almost every social media website to filter your pictures. Personally I feel instagram is one to popularize it the most. Social networking sites help us to reach our friends and stay connected to them but this kind of trend I refuse to follow. being oneself is not a shame atleast not for me. I find my pimples more beautiful than fake dimples!

People use photo editing apps because they get bored of taking photos of their same old look. Filters and editors help people overcome that boredom by introducing new styles and effects for them to experiment with. Many people do not like showing the social web their pimples or freckles so they cover it up by using filters so that they appeal to people on social networks. In life many people are afraid of being made fun of because of their unappealing qualities. They feel uneasy about their appearances and feel like a social outcast and so they use photo editing apps to alter their appearances to make friends online. Also, they use these apps to create a beautiful image of themselves. An obese person may want to look slim once in a while and so they may use photo editing apps to create a slimmer version of themselves. Many people have posters of their favorite pop idols hung up on their walls because they idolize them. People who use photo editing apps simply want to idolize themselves.

photo editing apps are not just individualistic. It brings together a whole new committee of creative people who enjoy experimenting with different styles and effect and filters. Many people who use photo editing app learn to appreciate the art of a fellow user of photo editors. Saying that you find pimples more beautiful is a very narrow minded perspective as photo editing apps are used for multiple reasons. If you had a set purpose in mind then you should have specified it in the title of the debate.

photo editing apps are used by general public while professionals use special type of customised software.
creating a slimmer version to appeal to whom???
being friends with people and deceiving them in a way they won't like???
worth it? nooooo
photo editing may be fun but cheating people is not!

Every good invention will be misused. There is no denying that some people will take advantage of the app to cheat people. However, we are talking about the general use of such applications. The apps were meant for fun and creativity not to cheat people online. People do not only use it for themselves, they use it to create something inspiring like setting a filter to make a sunset more beautiful or making a person look more memorable in a photo. Just because some people cheated over the use of photo editing apps, does not mean it should be banned. Telescopes were meant to gaze at stars but some people use it o peek into other people's apartments, does that mean telescopes should be banned?

According to me, photo-editing apps are making people hate themselves, hate themselves for not being fair, not being thin. People are becoming envious of other people . By editing themselves they're idolizing someone who doesn't even exist. Instead of working harder and achieving success people are being stressed about their image. There are already lot things to worry about, being fat isn't really one!

It has been an interesting debate so far and i have enjoyed myself but it is time to hammer the nail once and for all. social media is meant to spread one's name throughout the internet. Everyone knows the difference in looks of celebrities without makeup and on screen. there is a huge difference but no one wants to ban facial applications and other temporary beauty cosmetics. Photo editing apps are digital makeups for people online. Banning photo editing applications will make celebrities plain, average people obscured and social media boring. The internet would be a very boring place and people would still judge people on their looks. Only the judging would be a lot more negative than otherwise.

Photo editing should not be banned, as many people use it for their businesses and to design cards and posters.

Welcome to the site. You have a very high BoP to meet in this debate, I suggest revising to something you stand a better chance at winning (like the single type of usage of said app being banned).
