Rules

1. I will argue in favor of the resolution that there should indeed, be a death penalty.

2. You may only troll when things get completely out of hand.

3. First round is for acceptance only.

4. No plagiarism; Don't copy someone else's work and claim it as your own.

Failure to follow these rules will result in a 7-point forfeiture.

Retribution

Say, a criminal murders (The act of unlawfully killing someone[1]) a person. In some cases (Like the death penalty), punishments are imposed in retribution of an offense, not for the criminal to learn, because when you penalize someone by death, you don't give the criminal a chance to rehabilitate or change, but rather completely remove them from existence. Both the victim and the criminal has to come out equal and evenly. So, if the criminal is killed (As a penalty, which is sanctioned by law), the criminal is now even with the victim. The murder warrants the death penalty.

Detterence

The death penalty can deter would-have-been criminals from committing crimes. The criminal would be afraid of being penalized by death.

Public Safety

Until all prisons have very, very high security, I will use this as a contention:

Up to this date, there's almost always a chance of a criminal breaking out (Escaping) and again, commit crimes, which are not conform to our laws (Which we legislate based on our accepted interpretation of morality (In which should be followed (A condition) in this country)).
