This is a debate for wether the US government should have a federal minimum wage law.

The US needs to have a federal minmum wage law. If we look at the history of the US from the time of the industrial revolution people hired immigrants paid them next to nothing and they didn't have a choice due to their lack of education. The US offers free education only until high school, and the college application process for scholarships are highly competitive. If it was up to the employer in a capitalism economy they would most likely not pay their employee enough to live in and they would be forced to work three jobs and still not be able to get buy.

The United States does have law that has minimum wage. But in some cases, it's not enough to live off of. The law should be raised to more than the $8 (average) an hour. When students decide to go to college, they start to find a job and a place to live. Their wage is not enough to buy a whole new house. The Employers should raise up the minimum wage so that people can have enough to actually live off of without being broke and without their valuable assets.

Reasons for voting decision: Upon initial consideration of this debate, it seems obvious that Con should win because Pro did not post any rebuttal rounds. This is why I gave Con conduct points, for upholding her commitment to this topic. However, Pro ultimately did not need to defend his case as Con completely agrees with Pro (0 contradictions). As Pro stated, the topic is whether there should be a minimum wage law or not- not whether our already established minimum wage is sufficient. Con's conceding inadvertently leaves Pro the victor.
