Mistakes by kids can be forgiven, they don't know what they are doing.

Obviously, children/teens are aware of what they are doing, and they are aware that what they are doing is dangerous, otherwise they would not do it. Adults are punished for serious, mind-scarring, utterly immoral crimes, and hence, children should be at LEAST given tough discipline on things that they do. Moreover, if children are unaware of the things that could occur as a result of what they or doing or if they are simply unaware of what they are doing, it is imperative that laws be placed to ensure that children do not do these things and keep individuals safe and secure. If laws are places to ensure that no child/teen does this, they won't have to be 'aware' of what they're doing and can be easily forgiven. It is also evident that mistakes by anyone is forgivable, however mistakes must be done accidentally and only when they are done accidentally can anyone actually forgive them.
