Teachers and adults think that children should wear uniforms to school. They say that it removes the distractions of fashion trends and fashion competition from school, reinforcing the education of the school. If kids are forced to wear uniforms, they will all look the same. If they don’t, they can have freedom to express themselves in any way that they want. So should kids be forced to wear uniforms or not?
Uniforms are portrayed as a good things to the higher class families, but not all families can afford it. They are a financial burden for poor families because they might not be able to afford the uniforms because, the price of the uniforms are higher than regular clothes. Teachers and adults say that wearing uniforms allows the kids to have school spirit. If they think that they are putting a good example on us, they are wrong.
Wearing uniforms could prevent students from having to learn how to get along with people whose taste different from their own, which they may find unappealing. Uniforms can also attract bullies from neighboring schools. If they want to take away our freedom of expression then I say take out school
Having to wear a uniform in school has nothing to do with personal expression. It is simply a mode of formailty that we have lost in this country, and I believe we need to bring this element of our society back. In almost every area of American life there are codes; whether they're moral, ethical, or personal, living life without them only leads to chaos and apathy. There is no evidence whatsoever that schools with dress codes or uniforms anywhere in America turn children into expressionless automatons. In fact, most of those schools with dress codes are also higher performing schools. Every career in America requires a certain type of attire, whether you're a football player or a lawyer. Even people in retail stores like Wal-Mart wear uniforms. If we stopped wearing uniforms it would be more difficult to identify people. Americans are unique because they express themselves in many different ways, not just through their clothing. Therefore, it makes no sense to get rid of uniforms in school, or anywhere else for that matter.
