As you've stated Columbus was not the first to find America, and I'm not talking about the natives. There were many people before Columbus such as the Israelites and a lot of other people from Europe. Another reason that we shouldn't celebrate Columbus Day is he treated the natives horrible. Columbus would send them to find gold, and if they came back with nothing he would chop off both of their hands. Columbus also brought disease that killed off thousands of natives. He brought small pox, and many other deadly viruses. Therefore the only thing he did to help make America is bring more people to live here. Why should we celebrate someone who killed all the people that already lived here. That's not a great achievement.
